948 Shares A lot of news has been dropping of late about Avengers: Infinity War. Here’s what we’ve learned most recently: Chris Hemsworth hasn’t seen the script for the film; Zoe Saldana’s Gamora will be in the movie; Liv Tyler might be in the movie as Betty Ross; the film is shooting in Scotland; and Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t sure if she is going to be in the movie as Pepper Potts (and doesn’t seem too concerned about the matter, either way). If that wasn’t enough Infinity War news for the fans, there’s another confirmation that should have folks buzzing. It appears one very popular Marvel Cinematic Universe character who had a big impact in a relatively small amount of screen-time in Captain America: Civil War, will be showing up to assist the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy (and whatever other Marvel heroes are ultimately inserted into the movie) in their battle against Thanos. Tom Holland spoke to magazine Vogue Italia and confirmed that Spider-Man, who had been rumored to possibly be a part of the next Avengers, will indeed appear in Avengers: Infinity War. The Twitter account @TomHollandItaly tweeted out both the original text and a translated version of the bit where Holland confirms his participation in Infinity War.
Just what kind of role Spider-Man will have in Infinity War remains to be seen. Spidey is set to star in Spider-Man: Homecoming ahead of his shot in Infinity War, so perhaps developments in the first film will give some hints about how Spider-Man fits into the Avengers picture. A lot of this presumably depends on what kind of deal has been hashed out between Sony and Marvel as part of the on-going give-and-take over Spider-Man’s participation in the MCU. What clues can we glean about Spider-Man’s Infinity War fate from the comics? In the Infinity Gauntlet series, which forms the basis for the Infinity War movie, Spider-Man is one of the last heroes called up to battle Thanos and he gets bashed over the head with a rock. That seems like kind of an anti-climactic fate for a hero of Spider-Man’s magnitude, so it’s doubtful that we will be seeing any head-bashing going on in Infinity War the movie. Considering what a giant part Infinity War figures to play in the overall MCU, you have to believe the movie will be “epic” in every way. There’s no reason to believe Spider-Man won’t be a pivotal figure in the film, but we’ll have to wait until the movie comes out next year to know for certain. Source: @TomHollandItaly (via CBM)
