Hugh Jackman Shares Mysterious New Logan Photo

Hugh Jackman Shares Mysterious New Logan Photo

If Deadpool made the X-Men movie universe his own with raunchy humor and over-the-top violence, then Wolverine seems to be making his final stand with a grim and moody tone – at least, if the teases for upcoming standalone movie Logan are anything to go by. While lead actor Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold have been cagey about the movie’s plot, the past week has seen a number of intriguing black-and-white photos released, all offering clues about the movie. This week alone, one of those images has strongly indicated that Boyd Holbrook, who is said to be playing the movie’s main antagonist, will be playing none other than infamous cyborg supervillain Donald Pierce. Other images have focused on locations, like a motel and a facility surrounded by barbed wire and a “No Entry” sign. The latest photo from Logan – shared on the wponx Instagram account and by Hugh Jackman himself  – reveals another striking location. The caption describes it as a “smelting plant” – though it’s unclear whether that’s what the facility used to be, or what it has been converted into (the fallen structure appears to be a water tower). A door has been built into what used to be the roof, and the letters “ION RO__ES” are just visible on the top part of the sign, with “R.C.V.” on the second line. A clue from the comics – or just a random name?Smelting plant. Those photos revealed that it has a Texas licence plate (perhaps an indication that this location is in Texas), with the license plate number WER 112.The fancy car is in stark contrast to the almost post-apocalyptic feel of the location. Producer Simon Kinberg has confirmed that Logan is set in the future – which explains why Wolverine’s age finally appears to be catching up with him. Has the world fallen into ruin despite Wolverine’s efforts in X-Men: Days of Future Past, or does his journey simply take him to some pretty miserable-looking locations?Considering the rate at which these images are being released, it probably won’t be long until we receive the next clue. Until then, have fun trying to unravel what the smelting plant is, and who might live there.Logan opens in U.S. theaters on March 3, 2017, followed by unannounced X-Men films on October 6, 2017, March 2, 2018, and June 29, 2018. Deadpool 2, Gambit, New Mutants and X-Force are currently in development.
